1. Planning & Prep
Even for just two days, preparation is key:
-
Gear: Backpack, water container, fire starter, knife, first aid, warm clothes, map/compass, and emergency whistle.
-
Food: Lightweight, high-energy options (nuts, jerky, energy bars).
-
Shelter: A tarp, bivvy sack, or compact tent if thereβs no natural shelter.
2. Finding Water
-
Always prioritize clean water. Streams, lakes, or rainwater are options.
-
If unsure about purity, boil, filter, or use purification tablets.
-
Hydration is essential; even a short solo trip can become dangerous without water.
3. Building Shelter
-
Look for natural protection: trees, rocks, or overhangs.
-
Keep it insulated from cold ground with leaves, pine needles, or a sleeping pad.
-
Make it small enough to trap body heat but roomy enough to move.
4. Food
-
Two days isnβt long, so hunting or foraging is optional; snacks you bring are usually enough.
-
Wild food should only be eaten if you are certain itβs safe.
-
Focus on conserving energy rather than burning it hunting unnecessarily.
